My body, my identity, my life: the 40th Berlin Pride
“My body, my identity, my life”, this is the motto of the 40th Berlin Pride with hundreds of thousands of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, trans*sexuals, trans*gender, intersexuals and other queers (LGBTTIQ*) hitting the streets on 28 July 2018. What started out as a small, but impressive march with 400 participants thirty-nine years ago has developed into a forceful political mass rally and a mighty beacon for freedom and human rights.

Berlin Pride means politics and party. In order to promote diversity and ensure visibility, the march features two blocks: one for walking groups and rather “silent” vehicles and a “loud” one for the big bassy trucks. However, participants without a set of wheels can spontaneously join the demo wherever they like. The Opening of the legendary Berlin Pride March starts at 12:00 on the famous Ku’damm. Between 15:00 and 17:00, it reaches the location of the closing rally: the Pride Finale in front of the Brandenburg Gate.
